Ward Two Councillor Anthony Andronico Announces Re-Election Campaign
Andronico Highlights Proven Record in Public Service, Says ‘More Work To Be Done’
Quincy, MA - Anthony Andronico, the incumbent Ward Two Councillor and former School Committee Member, has officially announced his intention to run for re-election in the upcoming November election.
Andronico’s commitment to public service began early in his career when he chose a path dedicated to making a positive difference in people’s lives. For over five years, Andronico served as a Communications Director in the Massachusetts State Senate, working closely with constituents and elected officials to advocate for the needs of the Commonwealth.
“I’ve always believed in the power of public service to create meaningful change and improve the lives of others,” Andronico remarked. “My experience at the State House has shaped my commitment to serving the public, and it continues to inform my approach as a local elected official.”
Andronico is in his sixth year serving the people of Quincy in local government. Andronico served on the School Committee from 2018-2020 before being appointed by the City Council to the Ward Two seat in January 2021 and subsequently winning the contested November 2021 election. Andronico says he aims to continue serving the residents of Ward Two, building on his accomplishments and furthering community initiatives.
Andronico’s tenure in local public service has been marked by his dedication to transparency, accountability, and fostering community engagement. From his advocacy for infrastructure and public space improvements to his efforts in seeking public input on important decisions, Andronico has demonstrated a strong commitment to ensuring that the voices and interests of his constituents are represented.
Thanks to Andronico's efforts, significant community improvements are underway. Safety enhancements at the Fore River Clubhouse, amenity upgrades at Faxon Park, and the imminent introduction of a municipal broadband pilot program for Quincy Point are some of the projects initiated through his advocacy.
“I am particularly proud of the structural safety improvements at the Fore River Clubhouse - this space is so crucial to Quincy Point and I appreciate all the work that has gone into it to ensure the space remains a vibrant gathering place,” said Andronico. “Moving forward, I plan to work towards expanding senior programming at the clubhouse, so that seniors on this end of the city have a convenient space to access their favorite programs, and eliminate the need to travel across the city to the Kennedy Center.”
Recognizing the importance of infrastructure improvements, Andronico successfully pushed for and helped pass a plan to repave over 33,000 feet of roadway and sidewalks, and replace 19 water mains in Ward Two. More than $140 million was allocated by the City Council in 2021 to execute the city-wide plan and Andronico noted that his district has started to witness the roadway improvements over the past two years.
"New roads and sidewalks play a vital role in our everyday lives,” said Andronico. “They improve our safety, make it easier to get around, and enhance the overall quality of our communities. We still have a long way to go but I’m encouraged to see the initial progress we’ve made on this front.”
Transparency and public input have been central to Andronico's approach in representing his constituents. He authored a resolution pushing the Administration to actively seek public feedback on the allocation of nearly $50 million in COVID relief funds to ensure greater accountability in the spending of these funds.
Andronico also noted that he has heard growing concern from some residents regarding their desire to have a more active say in zoning and development in the city. In response to these concerns, Andronico cosponsored an initiative seeking a comprehensive public review of all city zoning and maps. Andronico says this effort will help ensure that all voices are heard and considered, fostering a more inclusive and participatory approach to development in Quincy.
"I have heard the concerns of our residents regarding zoning and development, and it is crucial that we give people the opportunity to shape their neighborhoods," Andronico stated.
Looking ahead, Andronico says there’s more work to be done and is excited at the prospect of following through on the goals he set out to achieve when first taking office as the Ward Two Councillor.
“Together, we have achieved significant progress in our community, but there is still more we can do to make Ward Two - from Quincy Point to Penn’s Hill and everywhere in between - an even better place to call home," Andronico affirmed. "I am proud of our accomplishments thus far, and I am committed to continuing to serve as a responsive and accessible representative for my constituents."
Andronico holds a BA in American Government and Economics from Emmanuel College. Anthony and his wife, Hannah, reside in the Penn’s Hill neighborhood with their rescue puppy, Brody. Andronico recently departed his professional role at the State House and is transitioning to a new position with the Massachusetts Association of School Committees.
